Rita’s Chicken: Saugat Adhikari

Rita was a very hard working woman who worked for Mr. Park at his house. Mr. Park believed in the work of Rita and always praised her. He had invited Mr. Smith for dinner on the occasion of Christmas eve and had brought a huge chicken for Rita so that she could cook it deliciously. Rita cooked the chicken very quickly and the delicious smell of that chicken could not stop her from tasting. She found it so delicious that she ate the whole dish. After that she realized it was for Mr. Smith. Before she could think of a solution Mr. Smith arrived. She became blank. Mr. Park told her to present the dish to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith thought of roaming in the garden for a while till she plated the dish. She went to the kitchen and there she saw a cloth for covering the plate and thought of a plan to escape from the punishment. She put on some raw potatoes and covered the plate with a cloth.

She whispered to Mr. Park to bring a knife from the kitchen to cut the chicken into pieces.  She would call Mr. Smith from the garden.  Then immediately she told Mr. Smith that his friend had gone to bring a knife to kill him. He didn’t believe what she told but when he saw Mr. Park was coming with a knife and he ran away thinking of saving his life. Mr. Park was taken aback when he saw his friend ran in a hurry. He asked Rita “what had happened?”  that he ran. She told that Mr. Smith insisted her to show the dish and when she showed him the dish he liked the presentation of the food so much that he wouldn’t eat alone so he ran to take it to his house to enjoy the dish with his family.  Mr. Park was impressed by Rita and was awarded in return. Rita who made right use of her  brain and  saved her from being punished.
